Beijing 2008 Olympic Games - One World One Dream

The opening ceremony last friday, 080808..

at the National Stadium - the Bird's Nest!

inside the Bird's Nest...91,000 spectators!

crazily impressive performances by the Chinese!
..the amount of manpower they have n their perfect performance...*salute

-The People's Republic of China-
the march-pass was rather draggy..haha..
204 countries altogether!

guess who carried Switzerland's flag?
heeeheee

the Olympic flag was carried by 8 Chinese young and old athletes!

for me, the most impressive part abt the opening ceremony was this...
the final torchbearer was being lifted up in the air and
he made a final lap around the stadium all the way to the cauldron!

and lastly, the fireworks was gorgeous and ALOT!
total cost for the fireworks for the opening ceremony = USD1.3million!
well done, China!

i obviously wasn't there...haha..these photos are not mine...(DUH!)
...all courtesy of the internet, of coz :p
nway, for those who hv not watched this, this 4-hour long opening ceremony is a must-watch..really!...i wish i was there in person!
but no complains, watching it from the tv aint bad...hehe..
it was good timing also...i was home last fri, watching it wif my parents :)

it's about time....

..i update.

hahahaaha
i realized i've been neglecting this space...which was freely given. (sounds weird)

just had 2 very tough midterm papers today, one in the morn n the other at nite. i've never felt so stressed out for midterm exam before..am so not looking forward to finals.

right now, am very tired. mentally. n itz like so wonderfully wonderful tht from monday onwards, it's the midterm break :) gonna be back in JB the whole week...to be Princess.. not tht im not one here in Mlk (thanks to korkor and soly)..but it'll be different coz i'll be under the care of the King n Queen themselves :D
it's been some time since i went home..and i only realized tht when im under alot of stress here in Mlk..and very much in need of parental TLC... *emo

i officially proclaim leave from any biz tht gives me stress this coming week... dedicating my time only to my family, dear-dear frens, and sadly, revision for 4 more papers after the break.

to all my MMU frens, hv a good break ahead. take good care :)

the 5 of us decided to check out the Bon Odori at Shah Alam...

in case u're wondering wat isit,
according to Wiki, this festival is a Japanese Buddhist custom to honour the departed spirits' of one's ancestors.
the evening started off with the opening ceremony...

..followed by the Bon Dance where everyone was supposed to dance along..
but we just stood there and watch instead :)

The Japs in their traditional kimonos...

as u can see, the place was crazily crowded with ppl...
we had to walk quite a distance from our car too..
we didnt stay on for the whole thing as it was dinner time and the food there was kinda pricy...

Funky & Nice??

i've always been a big fan of F&N drinks..
..namely Sarsi, Zesty Zapple, Groovy Grape, and Cool Ice Cream Soda :)
BUT, i never knew wat F&N stands for
till 2 weeks ago when i spotted this ancient bottle...

Fraser & Neave!

i was indeed enlightened.

Still alive and kicking!

Last Saturday, some of us had the opportunity to play for
Esther's home town church's Praise and Worship Night in Seremban.

-Ai, Esther, JouChean-
@ Rasah Sayang Jaya Baptist Church :)

Besides the great hospitality shown by esther's family,
the thing that we enjoyed most abt the trip was THIS!
hahaha..
super fun choo-choo train in the church compound!
it was really satisfying for our kiddy soul....

-Julian, Ai, JouChean, JanSen, Andrew, JiaTsing-
photo taken by Esther :)
Thanks, Esther and family for the great hospitality!

I was away during the weekend for our cousin's wedding in Muar.
for that, i had to miss Church Camp, Melaka Tour and Gary Chaw's concert..
such coincidence that so many things had to be on 28/6/08...hurhur

Keluargaku :)
...weddings.....i tend to think alot during weddings.......

Back to my daily busy life.... not exactly very peaceful now...haha... im quite stressed out just thinking of tomorrows... having quite alot in hand to handle....
i hope i'll be able to do things wisely and nicely... God willing.

The sky is grey.

sewage pond, highland, the little cili padi island...

-IF Camp 2008-
(click on the pic for a larger view)
theme: Boot Camp
venue: Broga (a camp site with an ex-sewage pond!)

The camp was another time of great fellowship and fun :) it was my first time playing in the rain..believe it or not.. haha... fun fun.. everyone was nice too coz nobody was thrown into the sewage pond..haha..

my 2nd camp was at Awana Genting... it was my home church's camp :)
3D2N there.. the food was totally awesome... i practically ate and slept through the whole camp..
haha.. but i DID went for all the sessions...although i actually planned to skip wan..heehee.. the speaker was Dr. David Gunaratnam.. pretty good speaker.. but if u happen to be really full from lunch/dinner..u'll surely fall asleep becoz his tone is really monotonous...haha.. but the content is good and practical :)
in recent years, during every camp, we'll hv a Fun Night where all the aunties and uncles who are normally seen to be really serious get all whacky and sporting!
e.g. Uncles acting as women with big boobs.... O.o
too bad i didnt get any pic of them.. just some of the things the young ppl did...

Superman
(he looked pretty high.........haha)

Mrs. Incredible
(she won 'best actress'!)

Invincible Man
haha

-ai, sean, megan & ryan-
besides eating n sleeping ALOT, i had fun with my little 'hotel neighbours'..haha
these mischievious cuties kept making prank calls and knocking our door for no reason..haha
good thing they're very cute...or else...
haha

-venetia, ai, melissa-
throughout the camp i was pretty bored actually.. most of my frens had left for further studies elsewhere...tht explains why i ate and slept alot.. tht was how i entertained myself during the free & easy time..haha
but i thank God for these 2 darlings who happen to be back from Singapore and KL to join the camp... had a really good time with them! =D

Next, i was at Singapore..
on the first day, met up wif dear gf, venie..
i didnt get enough of her during the church camp you see.. she was kind enuf to take time off her study week just to entertain me..heeheee

we started off at Ikea with some really crazily delicious food such as the Swedish meatballs, fried chicken wings and salmon.. time is always against good company..we actually ate and girl-talked for abt 1hr plus w/o realizing it..keke

after gobbling up everything, we headed to Queensway to get shoes, which is the ultimate objective of my visit to Sg this time..haha
after browsing through almost all the shops at the ground floor, we decided to make our purchase from a little shop.. as the prices are the same for all the shops, we chose to patronize the shop with the nicest shopkeeper lor :D

venie got herself a nice Nike Shox while i got myself a Nike Free...wheeeee...

from there, we proceeded to Orchard for 'xiao long bao' at Din Tai Fung inside Paragon... the chicken soup is really yummy too!!

afterwards, venie needed to go off to meet her fren, so i was 'passed over' to meihui for babysitting..haha.. we met up at Heeren and from there we just walked around and bought some stuff :)

she got herself a pair Onitsuka Tiger shoes which i tot was nice..she bought a different color and design than the one in the pic above...kinda old school and cool lor... it is actually another range of Asics shoes :)

i never fail to visit my cousin in singapore every holiday...
and we'll surely eat at the famous 85 hawker centre at Bedok near her place..haha..
i like!
thanks for the hospitality again, Ms. Tan! =D

nway, im back in Melaka now...
still hv one more week of hols but need to give out flyers to the new intake students to let them know abt the existence of MMUCF :)
so for those who are back already, do join us everyday at 5pm at the mmu entrance and also every nite at 8pm @ YAC to chill out! =D

lastly, this is the crazy reality!!!

i'm looking for a tricycle...
